Research & Research
Implementation
Well, it appeared events are quite a headache :D. They seem friendly but when started the research I figured out that there are lots of hidden pitfalls. It took 2 weeks to organize all the necessary fields to configure online event. What was interesting we came to decision that every meeting must have an agenda. Since the more we talked to PM’s and our peers the more we felt that everyone is done with endless meetings with no strict goals
Research & Research didn’t end on research phase. This time we figured out that there are even more to handle during implementation. And the trouble was to feet everything into a single event creation page without making it complicated. Even during development of already approved design the expectations from events were growing. Thus, we came to decision of introducing other modules such as (1o1’s and stand-ups) that were released later.

Empathize
The end of Events module was a beginning for another story. I started emphasizing our customers, and tried to understand why exactly their requirements were growing. Soon I understood that they had too many needs to be covered and they were seeing all of it to be solved in Events as name itself implies. So I started talking with them more and more.
During interviews i had 2 goals:
1. To understand group all the meeting types that exist during onboarding flow
2. Fully examine their specifics.
As a result of research, I found that there are several types of meetings that are held most frequently in IT companies. They are held to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and the successful execution of projects. The most frequently held meetings in IT companies are:
-
Daily Stand-Up Meetings
-
Sprint Planning Meetings
-
Sprint Review Meetings
-
Retrospective Meetings
-
Client Meetings
But the daily event that users do the most is the Daily Standup Meeting. That's why we decided to include General meetings and Daily Standup Meetings in our MVP.

Existing VS New

The platform is modular. And when starting the work on Stand-ups I needed to figure out how to integrate it into existing modules ecosystem. Moreover Platform already had an Events module (which was previously created by me :D), and the new Stand-up module needed to be integrated into it.
Since it was the first module that didn’t have some extra page added it was a necessity to think of how customers will be onboarded. Since no new page appears I added some hints with red dots to guide the user through whole process to create a standup meeting.

Feedbacks and improvements
Luckily for me, in this project we had an early bird customers that guided as through all improvements needed. First, we changed the ticket view for update to show “how long” update was not modified. We added Mark as complete button and Update reminder as well.
